Alice Spills The Tea

King Richard III and the Missing Princes Short Story The Most Brutal Family Betrayals

☕️ Alice’s Mad Tea Party Presents:

The Most Brutal Family Betrayals

“Because no one can betray you like your own blood.”

Alice leans back, swirling her cup and eyeing her guests with that mischievous gleam. The air in the room feels thicker now, like something juicy is about to be dropped.

“Alright, let’s move on, shall we? The next family betrayal is one for the books, literally. Not the kind of drama you’d find in some dull history textbook. This? Oh, no—this is a full-on courtroom spectacle. Imagine this: you’re a royal, you’ve got all the power, and yet, you still can’t keep your hands clean. The dangerous game of betrayal goes way back, darling.”

She sets down her cup and places her hands dramatically on the table.

2. King Richard III and the ‘Missing’ Princes

“Now, let me tell you about King Richard III. Oh, Richard. He was the sort of ruler who thought that the throne was his birthright, and if he had to get a little, shall we say, creative to secure it—well, that was just part of the job description. But what did Richard do when he needed the throne so badly? Oh, you know—he got rid of some obstacles. Those two little princes—Edward V and his brother Richard—were just the two most inconvenient people in the entire country, and wouldn't you know it? They just vanished into thin air.

At least, that’s what the official story was. Richard’s court claimed that the young princes simply disappeared and that they weren’t important anymore. But listen, love, we all know a cover-up when we see one. Those princes were not lost to the wind, no, no—they were found under a staircaseDead.

Alice holds up a finger, as if about to spill some sort of ancient secret.

“Oh, but don’t think that makes Richard all bad, though—no, no. After all, a king has to do what a king has to do, right? Especially when it comes to getting rid of pesky competition. And that was the end of the story for those poor little princes.”

She sighs dramatically, picking up her cup and giving it an exaggerated sniff.

Royal blood doesn’t seem to make you any less of a backstabber. Especially when the crown’s on the line.”

Alice looks into her tea like she’s pondering something deep. “Poor Richard... he thought he could get away with it all. But hey, in the end? His legacy is pretty much just a tragic, guilty history lesson. Imagine being remembered for something as dirty as that. And here I thought family was supposed to have your back. I guess kings don’t have that luxury.”

She leans forward, eyes twinkling again.

“Let’s pause there, my friends. That’s the beauty of history. The truth is often buried in shadows, waiting for someone to dig it out. I mean, can you imagine what it was like in Richard’s shoes? Not only do you kill off your family, but you’ve gotta sleep with the knowledge that everyone knows what you did. That’s gotta haunt you. It’s almost poetic, don’t you think?”

Alice takes a sip and raises her eyebrows. "Next betrayal, darling?”
